ClosetTools lays out the closet and prices every part
Measure each wall, pick the system and drag shelves, rods and drawers into place, and ClosetTools snaps every part to the sizes the maker sells and adds up the parts list and the hours to install.

How it works

Pick the shape and the system
Start with a reach-in, an L or U walk-in, or a wardrobe. Choose the system you install and type the wall width, ceiling height and depth. You can add a photo of the closet to draw over.

Drag parts onto the wall
Each wall is drawn to scale with its dimensions. Drag shelves, rods, drawers and baskets into a bay and they snap to the heights the system allows, like Elfa's slots every 1-1/4 inches. ClosetTools points out spans that are too wide, rods too low for long coats and drawers that hit the door jamb.

Walk round it in 3D
Turn the whole closet in 3D to check that a walk-in works before the customer sees it. Switch walls to change each one in elevation.

Price it and send it
The parts list counts every track, standard, shelf and bracket with its price, plus labour at your hourly rate. Publish it as a proposal with the elevations and the parts, and it lands in JobTools.
The systems in it
| Brand | Systems | Prices |
|---|---|---|
| Elfa | Elfa Classic, sold by The Container Store | List prices |
| ClosetMaid | ShelfTrack wire shelving, SuiteSymphony laminate towers | Sample |
| IKEA | PAX wardrobes with KOMPLEMENT fittings, BOAXEL | List prices where IKEA publishes them, sample for the rest |
| Easy Track | Laminate towers with shelf boards and rods between them | List prices for the towers, sample for the rest |
| Rubbermaid | HomeFree wire shelving | Sample |
| Custom panels | A plain 3/4 inch panel built-in for shops that cut their own | Sample |
Sizes, increments and finish names come from the makers' and retailers' public pages. ClosetTools marks each price as a list price, which may have changed since we read it, or a sample. ClosetTools isn't affiliated with any of these brands, their names belong to them, and the parts are drawn by the app rather than taken from brand photos.
Who ClosetTools is for
- Installers
- Lay out the closet on the first visit, check it against the rules of the system, and leave with the parts list and the hours.
- Dealers
- Lay the closet out in Elfa, IKEA PAX or a laminate system and show the customer the difference in price.
- Designers
- Draw each wall to scale, show it in 3D, and let Imagine draw a photoreal picture of the finished closet.
- Homeowners
- Plan your own closet, see what the parts cost at list price, and find an installer if you'd rather not fit it yourself.
Proposals go to JobTools
Publish a proposal in ClosetTools and it arrives in JobTools as a draft for the same customer, with a line for each wall and one for the installation. Send it from there. Signing makes the job and the deposit invoice, and you pick the install date.

Questions about ClosetTools
- Can I use it now?
- Yes, at closet.toolsforbuilders.com. It's free, and there is nothing to install. You can start a closet without signing in.
- Where do the prices come from?
- Where a maker publishes list prices, like Elfa and IKEA, ClosetTools uses them and marks them. The rest are sample prices. You set your own labour rate.
- Does it do corner units?
- Not yet. Each wall is laid out on its own.
- Is it made by the closet brands?
- No. ClosetTools isn't affiliated with any of them. It uses their published sizes so the parts list matches what you would order.
