The WindowTools estimator with a living room photo: a Duette honeycomb shade on the left window and a Bali Roman shade on the right, $933 for the two

How it works

The WindowTools build view: a living room photo with the left window marked at 35 by 58 inches

Mark one window you've measured

Take a photo of the room, or start from the sample room. Drag over the glass of one window and type the size from your tape measure. Every other window you draw on that wall is sized from the photo, and a window on another wall can be typed in by hand.

A window's card in WindowTools: its size measured from the photo, cellular shades, the Duette line, the Duette 3/4 inch Opaque fabric and its colour swatches

Pick a covering for each window

Each window gets its own product, line, fabric and colour, then light control, mount and control. The size measured from the photo sits beside the box for the tape measure size you'll order from.

The WindowTools estimate: two Hunter Douglas Duette shades at $360 and $396, $150 installation and a $906 job total

See the price of every window

The estimate lists each window with its line, size and fabric, then the installation and the job total. Each window is priced from its line's width and height bands and its fabric's price group. For now those prices are samples.

The WindowTools catalog page, opening on Hunter Douglas Silhouette Window Shadings with its sizes, controls, mounts, motor and fabric swatches

Look through the catalog

Every line comes with its fabrics, colour names, light control, mounts, controls, motors and size limits, and a link to the brand's page it came from. The colour swatches are drawn by WindowTools from the colour names.

A published WindowTools proposal: two windows drawn to size, a Duette shade and a Bali Roman shade, $150 installation and a $933.20 total

Send the proposal

Publish a proposal your customer opens on their phone, with a drawing of each window, the covering on it and its price. The same proposal lands in JobTools as a draft with one line per window.

Questions about WindowTools

Can I use it now?
Yes, at window.toolsforbuilders.com. It's free, and there is nothing to install. You can try the sample room without signing in.
Are the prices real?
Not yet. Every price is a sample so you can see how a quote comes together. Product names, colours and size limits come from the brands' public pages.
Does it measure the window for me?
It measures from the photo once you've marked one window you measured. That is close enough to quote from, and you type the tape measure size before ordering.
Is it made by Hunter Douglas or the other brands?
No. WindowTools isn't connected to them, and the colour swatches are our own drawings.
