Landscaping and lawn care estimating software

Trace the lawn, beds, gravel and paving over a satellite view or a yard photo. LawnTools adds up the areas and the edging, works out the mowing time and the materials, and prices it all at your rates. JobTools runs the crews and the invoices.

The LawnTools estimator with a 4,000 square foot lawn, a fence bed and a patio, showing 172 feet of edging, 9 pallets of sod and 4.4 cubic yards of mulch

Measure the yard from above

Open the property on a satellite view, or take a photo from your phone or tablet on the visit, and trace the lawn, each bed, the gravel and the paving. LawnTools adds up the square footage of each and the length of bed edging. You can trace a yard and see it finished before you measure anything, and the prices appear as soon as you add one measurement.

That makes a first price possible from the office, before anyone drives out. The visit then confirms the plan instead of starting it.

Materials from the real areas

From the traced areas, LawnTools works out sod and the pallets it comes on, seed, fertilizer, mulch in cubic yards and in bags, and gravel in tons. The yard above, a 4,000 square foot lawn with a fence bed and a patio, comes to 172 feet of edging, 9 pallets of sod and 4.4 cubic yards of mulch.

For a quick figure on a single area, the free calculators do the same arithmetic: the sod calculator, mulch calculator, grass seed calculator, fertilizer calculator and paver base calculator.

Mowing time and your prices

Mowing is priced by time, so LawnTools works out the minutes per visit from the lawn area, your deck width and your mowing speed. Enter your own rates for mowing, materials and labor. Anything you leave blank stays off the estimate, so a mowing quote doesn't carry mulch lines you never meant to sell.

Hardscape and the rest of the job

Patios, walls, fences and decks come with their own takeoffs. The paver base calculator gives the tons of base and sand and the paver count, the concrete, gravel and mulch calculator handles slabs, footings and post holes, and the fence and deck calculators count posts, rails, pickets, boards and joists.

From the first call to a signed job

JobTools has a leads board from the first call to the signed proposal. On the visit, snap a photo of your handwritten notes or record yourself talking through the yard, and it is typed up and summed up on the lead: measurements, finish, budget, timing and open questions.

Price the proposal from your price book with good, better and best options, for example fresh mulch only, mulch with new plantings, or a full bed renovation with edging. The customer picks one and signs on their phone, and the signed proposal becomes a job with the deposit invoice made out.

The JobTools week schedule for a four-person landscape crew: a flagstone patio, two fall cleanouts and three estimate visits

Crews, schedule and invoices

The schedule has week, day and crew views. Drag a visit to another day when it rains. Each person sees today's visits on their phone, ticks off the checklist, takes before and after photos, adds notes and clocks in and out, and it keeps working where the signal drops. Customers can book an estimate visit on your online booking page and get a reminder email before it.

Send deposit, progress and final invoices from the job. Customers pay by card or by bank transfer (ACH), straight into your own Stripe account, and you record checks and cash as they come in. JobTools keeps track of what is still owed and sends your customers, items, invoices and payments to QuickBooks Online, so the books stay current without typing anything twice.

Questions

Is LawnTools free?
Yes, at lawn.toolsforbuilders.com, with nothing to install.
Where do the prices come from?
From you. LawnTools does the measuring and the quantities and prices them at the rates you enter. Anything left blank stays off the estimate.
Can I quote without visiting the property?
You can trace the yard over a satellite view and send a first price from the office. Most jobs still need a visit to confirm grades, access and soil before the work starts.
How does it work out mowing time?
From the lawn area, the width of your mower deck and your mowing speed, as minutes per visit.
Can I move my customers over from Jobber?
Yes. JobTools imports customers, contacts, leads and history from a Jobber export, a spreadsheet, a Salesforce export or your CompanyCam projects.
